Talking about the various films in the Batman franchise got me to start mentally ranking comic book movies. So I decided to post (almost) all of them in order of awesomeness.

The Dark Knight
X-Men: First Class
Iron Man
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Kick-Ass
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (Sure it's animated, but it's really damned good)
Turtles Forever (Another animated film, but totally awesome)
Spider-Man
Superman II
Hellboy
Thor
Blade
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
X-Men
Superman
Batman Begins
Batman (Adam West movie)
Batman (1989)
Iron Man 2
V for Vendetta
Batman Returns
Captain America: The First Avenger
TMNT
Watchmen
From Hell
300
Art School Confidential
Spider-Man 2
Superman Returns
Spawn
Sin City
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze
Ghost World
A History of Violence
The Men in Black
The Spirit
X2
The Crow
Mystery Men
The Punisher
The Rocketeer
Weird Science
Red Sonja
Red
The Losers
The Mask
Hulk
Heavy Metal
The Incredible Hulk
Blade II
Cowboys & Aliens
The Men in Black II
Tank Girl
Virus
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Judge Dredd
30 Days of Night
Josie and the Pussycats
The Crow: City of Angels (I know there were two more Crow movies, but those were too awful to even bother with)
Constantine
Bulletproof Monk
Casper
Timecop
Whiteout
X-Men: The Last Stand
Green Lantern
Heavy Metal 2000
Punisher: War Zone
Richie Rich
Blade: Trinity
Swamp Thing
Wanted
Batman Forever
Batman & Robin
Road to Perdition
Spider-Man 3
Barb Wire
Fantastic Four
Ghost Rider
Daredevil
Superman III
Supergirl
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (Did anyone even see this turd?)
Howard the Duck
Jonah Hex
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Elektra
Steel
Catwoman
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Discuss.

So where would you draw the line at "good movies above, bad movies below"?

First off putting Elektra, Catwoman, and the Ghost Riders above the Wolverine movie was hopefully just trying to get all of them down on paper.

Have yet to see first class so can't say anything there. Ironman was a great movie and probably be my all time fav (probably since I have to see the avengers and then make the choice). My first action figure was Ironman from my Uncle (13 yrs old than me). He was big into comics there for a while so he started me on Ironman and Thor, hard to choose between those two.

And even though it was a TV series (yeah, that would end up adding a bunch more) WitchBlade. Even though she had the chiseled jaw line of John Wayne there's still something about Yancy Butler that just makes ya go Hmm....yeah, I'd do it. So wish that one didn't get canceled after 1 season.

Everything above X-Men: Last Stand is good-ish. Everything above The Punisher is a pretty decent movie. Anything above Art School Confidential is fairly awesome.

Wolverine was a steaming pile of dog *edited*. Sorry, Wurgy, but it's true. If you take the movie purely on it's own, it certainly is better than Catwoman or Ghost Rider. But the way Wolverine *edited* all over Logan's history AND Deadpool...it pissed me off more than I can say. That is why it gets the bottom spot on the list.

K, i'll agree with that. :) Just that I Catwoman was so god awful, watching that stumbling trainwreck of Elektra, and finally Ghost Riders just filled with so many plot holes and wtf's...

If you go purely based on Comic to Movie, First Class took what used to be the Original X-Men story andante buried it. Example, you're telling me McCoy built Cerebro? They did add some better story, like for Magneto, originally he carried corpses, this time they experimented on him. But I'm still not a fan, where was Scott Summers and why do I see Alex Summers? O.o

But I also wish you had Constantine a little higher up, that's one of my all time favorite movies.

Mask of the Phantasm? I wore that VHS out from watching it so much lol
On a side note I agree 100% on Origins. They skewed that story so bad it's not even funny. How do you ruin Deadpool? He's the one character that truly deserves his own movies, also I hope they never touch Green Lantern again the expanded universe is such a great series of comics with the whole Emotional Spectrum, just don't ruin it DC.
Makes me sad DCUO isn't a better game :/ it's not terrible, just not spectacular.

I'm just curious how 300 fits as a comic book film.

It was based on the battle of Thermopylae if I'm not mistaken. I mean yeah it was LOOSELY based on it, but it hit the main plot points. Did I miss a comic book/series coming out depicting these events?

Still a great movie don't get me wrong.

300 was a comic about the the battle written in 98 published by Dark Horse comics. So yes, it was based on both the historical battle and the comic ^_^

Frank Miller (Sin City, The Dark Knight Returns, Daredevil, Wolverine, Punisher, All-Star Batman & Robin) wrote and illustrated the comic 300.

btw, if anyone wants a laugh, look up Alan Moore on Wikipedia. The man is a certifiable psycho.
