If you missed the tweet and thread, I have renamed "90 seconds w/Alan" to "AlanShotFirst". I hope everyone enjoys episode 11!
This week's community discussion:
Are you a collector? If so, how did you get started?
Join me for my first vidcast featuring a guest! Eric joins me as I show-off his amazing collection and talk about how he got started collecting Star Wars action figures and more!
I collect toys and comic books. I'm always checking out garage sales looking for cool, cheap toys to buy. I used to collect Magic cards, but I sold my collection to buy a PS3 and other gaming stuff instead.

Hold on a moment, was that a She-Ra action figure? Oh my gosh, she was my first crush ^^ Anyway very impressive collection, I salute to you Sir Eric ! And thanks Alan for your efforts showing this to us.
Well what do I collect? First thing that comes to mind are Manga, I got about 250 of those on my shelf. The second thing, cause it's not as impressive as the manga is Star Wars merchandise, I got a few action figures, cups, keychains, some lightsaber replica and other not too expensive stuff.

I used to collect a few things...but nothing ever really stuck. When I was younger, I used to collect POGs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pogs (anyone even remember those?), then it was Pokemon Cards (yup) followed by Magic the Gathering Cards...and then not entirely on purpose, various gaming magazines, Gamepro mainly. All of these things have been tossed after moving 2 or 3 times, the cards handed down to siblings and the POGs...who knows.
I recently picked up the Fatal Alliance novel and noticed in the front of the book, a timeline of all of the Star Wars books. I do believe my future collection has already begun
Oh man, I hated Pogs when I was a kid. Mostly because my buddy bought this huge slammer that weighed like 5 pounds so he would always win. And the stupid thing would always ruin the top Pog on the stack. God, what a dumb game that was.

Yeah I remember those, even though they were called caps over here, loved those things, I even had Star Wars pogs. ^^
Oh and another thing, when I read the collector I had to think of Mass Effect immediately, then your friend shows up with a Normandy shirt, that was hilarious.

I mentioned this the other night on Vent, but there is a Star Wars documentary on Hulu called 'Jedi Junkies'. In it, they interview this one guy who is so obsessed that his family barely has enough money to survive each month because he spends it all on different collectibles. Just thought I would bring it up again because it is awesome and related. Links below:
I used to be a huge collector of things. Cards, comics and action figures, even though my collection was small due to being poor. However, about a year ago when I moved across the country, I only had a limited amount of space for things, so I ended up giving a lot of the stuff away. Since then, I haven't had the drive to try and collect anything since.
(Being even poorer than before also doesn't help! )
