So anyone else remember in the original trilogy when Obiwan tells Luke that the blaster marks on the jawa sand crawler are too precise for sand people and that it had to have been done by storm troopers? And then later on, is there any point in the original trilogy, outside of a fighter or AT-AT, that ANY storm trooper hit anything?

I mean really I can't think of one time where they hit something :)

That being said, i can't wait to play a trooper ;)

this is actually a running joke around. its not that they suck at shooting, its that the rebels dont have to see other people, they just see cobs in the murder machine that is the empire. meanwhile the empire is shooting at rebel soldiers with faces.

on another note, people die, just not main story point characters. its like in lord of the rings as well. hell any story does it, the only survivor is faromir (sp) when the orks begin invading in return of the king <_< orks dont leave survivors :P

anyway point is: troopers are great until they see a main character, then they are just cannon fodder.

seriously, running away when han and chewy charge you screeming with ONE PISTOL!

Leia got shot in the arm by a trooper when they were trying to destroy the shield generator in Return of the Jedi. Not a precise shot, but shot none the less...LOL!

I actually remember hearing in one of the Star Wars audio books I was listening a line about the Trooper's aim. I think it was "...not ALL Storm Troopers are renowned for their marksmanship, or lack there of..."

It made me laugh that even the EU books acknowledge this.

But Jennifer Hale is the voice of the Female Trooper and THAT should be all the reason one needs to play them.

I found the voicing of the trooper in the class video so annoying, it has completely put me off ever playing a trooper, as well as enraging me so much I felt like punching the trooper to vent anger at how much it annoyed me! I like the idea of the class, and the trooper in Fatal Alliance, but the trooper in the video... REALLY annoying.

Might I ask, Snodge, about what it was that annoyed you? I have heard some hate towards the voice from other people and I personally don't get it but I am very interested to know why as maybe it's just a personal preference thing.

I myself just hear female Commander Shephard when I saw that video and that made me happy as I felt Jennifer Hale really rocked the hell out of the Mass Effect series.

It just seemed to portray an aspect of snobbery, sarcasm and intolerance and it just got under my skin. I can understand it, why it's like that, but to me it seemed to just portray how many of the trolls on the official SWTOR forums behave. I don't know why - it's as much an impression or a general feeling based on the attitude and demeanour of the trooper. It's like why you might like green rather than blue - there's no reasonable logic for it, it just is, and that's sort of how I feel about the trooper right now, based on that new class video.

I didn't care for the main trooper in the video being female. Plain and simple it just doesn't feel "right" to me. Every trooper I have seen in the movies or the Clone Wars series is a man.

Same for me in World of Warcraft. Female guards in capital cities and female avatars in the melee role seems out of place.

Call it what you will, I prefer my trooper, warrior, pally etc to be male characters.

Other than that I am looking forward to creating a trooper though!

I think that scene where the troopers raid the Tantive IV in 'A New Hope' might have shot a random guard. Maybe?

A friend and I talked about this though. If Storm Troopers were REALLY as precise as they claim to be, there would be no movie. When the storm troopers get to the Falcon in Mos Eisley and shoot at Han, they would have killed him, then arrested/shot Luke, Obi-Wan and Chewie. Or they would have shot them a bajillion times on the Death Star.

I think it is kind of like "Why doesn't someone just aim and shoot at John McClain in the Die Hard movies?" Because then there is no Die Hard movies. :D

Got me there, but then again for all we know he was actually aiming at some of the murderous ewoks in the woods behind them :P

My beef with it is, you'd think out of all the people firing they'd hit something more or less as in the instance with Han n' Chewie that several people are referencing to in the death star. S'always been a running joking with my friend about how they never seem to hit anything. :D
