So it's Assassin's Creed with cellphones? Yawn.

What a disappointing E3 thus far. The only interesting things were Halo 4 and Tomb Raider. Well, and the SWTOR trailer...I guess.

Meh, to each their own but there is fantastically little variety in mechanics of game play across all video games, ever. There might be about six truly different game types. It's the story, settings and character that differentiate the games these days.

So essentially, if it's mechanics you find boring... you're in for a big disappointment with nearly every game, period. And a lot of droll yawning.

No, you can innovate in games and people do it all the time. The first AC was a fairly innovative game when it came out. It took the sandboxy style of gameplay (a la GTA) and added in stealth elements and a whole new way to explore/travel around your environment (well mostly, Spiderman did do the wall climbing stuff first, I believe). Watch Dogs appears to take what AC did and adds a smartphone to it. That's it.

Now maybe Watch Dogs will have something in it that sets it apart from its predecessors and maybe it will have amazing characters or story. But I didn't see any of these things in that video.

I just don't see that stuff as innovative at all. It's just this game style + this odd variable(s). But like I said, to each their own. These days, it's those other things that get me to finish a game; not the game play because the likelihood is that I've already done that game play before.

I think Flower on the PS3 was the first game in a long time that I went, "huh, that's kind different". Just obviously not a game that would suck up a lot of time of course few levels and you've really got the entire thing. The more I thought about it, the more it was just a pretty, 3d pac-man though. =p

All that aside, I said this games looked fantastic. ;) I do enjoy talking games though. Not many people went from Pong to here.

It's true that it really does look amazing. Except the facial expressions. I'm not sure what it was, but the mouth movements just seemed really..off..to me. It was kinda like the characters had all just had Botox shots and couldn't move their mouths a whole lot.

The two demos Sony showed last night were pretty fantastic. Beyond looks like it is going to be amazing and innovative. If anyone played Heavy Rain, you know it was a solid game and the first step in a re-imagining of a genre. The Last of Us is also looking strong. It looks brutal and isn't holding anything back. And you should know Naughty Dog tells some of the best stories in gaming today. Sony is losing money hand over fist of course, and most people still hate on them but if you love innovative games, you should own a PS3. Of course God of War 33 is more of the same, meh.

Microsoft again had a disappointing show. Make no mistake, they are master marketers and I tip my hat of them for, but I won't fall for it. Queue Halo 45 and give your money to them. Queue Call of Duty 76 and give your money to them. Queue Dance Central 17 and give your money to them. If you love paying $60 a year to play free online games, buy some TV, buy some movies and buy some music, then give your money to Microsoft. Oh and you can wave your hands in the air to do stuff. :)
