Some races have been announced and it seems like there will be a certain degree of locking races to classes. I'm curious what people think some of the possibilities for the Trooper class would be. I would think the Troopers would be the most restrictive class due to the kind of uniformity among an organized fighting force. Armor kind of defines a trooper, and certain species really couldn't work helmets. In the multiplayer demo video we did see a Mon Calamari NPC troopers and I found that interesting as I would not place that species high on the list of probability. What is anyone hoping or thinking as far as Trooper classes?

I'm not hoping for anything really. I don't want to be disappointed. However, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance by Sean S. Williams featured 3 different races as Troopers. Kiffar (main character) Zabrak and Kel Dor (supporting characters). They tend to sneak game details into the marketing material, so why should the book be different?

In that one video showing off group dialog dynamics at E3 it looked like there was a trooper mon cal which I know will make one of my guild mates rather excited. If by chance that happens and Trandos can be troopers I can stop worrying about some unhappy guildies who have strong feelings about their favorite races.

there are bound to be some limitations, but Troopers only got their 'uniform' appearance in the movies. Xavier is absolutely right, in the RPG and in the books, there's no 'set race' for a Trooper. i'd love to see a Wookie Trooper though...and that weird fishy species from Return of the Jedi that was Lando's co-pilot...that thing as a trooper would look great in an odd sort of way.

i've never seen a Wookie force user though...i wonder if there ever has been one.

There have been two that I know of. Plo Koon's teacher, Tyvokka and Chewbacca's nephew, Lowbacca. However, George has put a moratorium on Wookiee Jedi, there shall be no more.

I'm pretty sure Zabrak is assumed if not confirmed as a trooper race, which is kinda cool, and also gives me hope that we'll see these species cross class lines. After all the dev's have to know there are people who want to be Zabrak Sith a la Maul. Since the trend has been things with humanoid faces so far I would rule out Kel-Dor and Mon Cal, though those would be cool. I think, as has been said in another thread, that Kiffar are really too human looking to count as a separate race, though I would totally be behind their inclusion in the game as they would make for a suitable race in all classes. I think iktotchi would be a cool race, and they have human looking faces, though the horns pose a bit of a problem for helmets. I also like Niktos, though they are moving more into the alien faces.

We'll have to see

The Hope trailer had a trooper with no helmet. At first I just assumed it was because he was bad to the bone, but do you think BioWare is trying to tell us something? Not saying they are...just pondering. ;)

What specifically do you think they're trying to tell us? We have seen in game troopers fighting without their helmets on as well, and Bioware has announced a toggle helmet option. Are you saying you think big headed aliens will be allowed to be troopers, they just won't have helmets?

As you can see I'm easily confused...help gsviper-Wan Kenobi...your my only hope...
