Yep, it's going to be free to download and free to play. They said they want to have a subscription option but no other details yet. If you want to get involved with the community that has been following the game since PS1, go here:
http://www.planetside-universe.com/foru ... y.php?f=65

They've also been giving our beta keys every day since E3. They get snatched up pretty fast, so gotta be a quick typer. They will also be out of order or they give you half now and half later. It's to make sure bots don't get them. :geek:

https://twitter.com/#!/planetside2

Basically the beta code invite priority goes as follows:
1. PS1 Veterans
2. PC Gamer Magazine
3. Trade shows like E3
4. Facebook/Twitter
5. Just signing up for beta with no key.

So if you can grab one of the higher priority keys, there's a better chance at getting in early.

New video just came out. If anyone doesn't want to watch all the other vids out there, at least watch this one as it has a lot of good info.

They gave all PS1 veterans a free 30 days. By the way, what qualifies you as a veteran is if you paid at least 1 month of subscription (before this announcement of course).

Something I am worried about is how massive this game will be. Will it be so massive you can't do anything because you get shot so quickly, or scaled so you can get things done while targets present themselves accordingly?

1. Each continent is 64 square kilometers and can hold up to 2,000 players at once. That cap could go up or down during beta, once they see how the lag works with tons of people.

2. As you can see from the image at the top with the hexagon grid system, everyone won't be at a single place. Each of those hexagon groupings is BIGGER than a multiplayer map in today's shooters. (Call of Duty, Battlefield, Tribes, etc...) Players will be spread across the "front lines", and some will be going behind enemy lines to disrupt their supply and benefits.

3. There will be 3 continents at launch: Indar (which is the continent we've been seeing in all the videos), Esamir, and Amerish. The other 2 continent's concept art:
Esamir: http://www.planetside-universe.com/medi ... 574858.jpg
Amerish: http://www.planetside-universe.com/medi ... b5e5f2.jpg

4. One thing I recently pointed out to a friend is you don't have to be a part of the "zerg" if you don't want to. The game supports real life tactics that would make Sun Tzu proud. Because all of your opponents are people, they can succumb to same tactics real life military commanders use. Distractions, feints, flanking, shock an awe, scorched earth, etc...

5. Lastly, and I won't sugar coat this, you will get shot A LOT. In a purely PvP game, you can't wait for devs to nerf something because you think "it's too hard". Adapt to changing situations and get better. Knowing your capabilities and the capabilities of your enemies will save your ass. 8-)

Indeed. I was a single light tank on the bridge last night against 2 others and a few other pieces of artillery. I saw friendly birds incoming so held their attention long enough to let them get there, drove the tank into the water to save my ass, lost the tank, but they lost 4 and about 6-7 guys, I however emerged from the water unscathed, until I then ate a 120mm round from a Vanguard tank about 2 minutes later lol

July 1st will be Planetside day for the entire PS community. I will be making a video, as I'm sure many others will too. I will try to record some massive battles so you guys who haven't played the first game can get some idea's on how the second game will play. 8-)
