I'm really surprised how versitile the Mod system is. I didn't get alot of time to mess with it in the betas. So it's really cool to see what you can do with it in game. It really makes for some cool looks (ie. slave girl, sand people) that you can give your characters and companions. I can see Bioware expanding this even further down the road by adding more armor sets.

One niggle that gets me every time is after using a taxi, your companion is dismissed, and then when I go into combat I find I'm struggling a bit.

I was also surprised by how difficult it is to get to datacrons once off the starter worlds. I thought the focus was to be on finding them, rather than on stupid twitch skills that you need to get to them. They just end up being annoying and not in the slightest bit fun.

I am also enjoying the space combat quite a bit. Yes, it's not SWG (in which ace pilot was my first badge when I started playing that game), but it's still an enjoyable mini-game to pass the time and earn some extra credits and exp.

I also am overjoyed with the crafting aspect. I love being able to walk away from the computer while I know something is getting done in the background. Or even in PvP and Flashpoints. Love it! Also, now that I am catching onto it a bit more, am enjoying how to learn to craft more advanced items for personal use or sale.

VIP vendors. Ugh! I am not a happy trooper. The lounge is great and all but the vendors are really lacking in variety of items.

Couldn't have said it better.. Jumping around the rafters and pipes was just plain awful.

I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy being on a pvp server. Sure I've been ganked quite a few times and its annoying, but the epic pvp battles I've been involved in on the dune sea in particular have made it worth it. Force pushing a potential ganker into the sarlacc pit? I'm definitely not the first to do it, but it is definitely a moment that will be difficult to top.

Well I think a big disappointment for me is the map but not in its display or even its primary function but finding things that aren't on the map are such a pain with out the ability to set waypoints.

On that same not I love exploration just as much as I hoped I would. Even finding out there is nothing in certain places are certifiably entertaining for me. One of the guilds unfortunately showed me the codex planet detail screen so now I am itching to find so all the entries...This rate I will never land on tat.

I agree with being on a PvP server. I had a good time fighting off a mob and then finishing off the Sith that tried to gank me. Not sure what that person was doing but it didn't end well for them.

I'm also impressed and disappointed with the companions. I didn't think they'd really be more than over glorified pets but you certainly create a connection with them and they are a huge help in a fight. I also like the fact that companions have bonuses to crew skills.

...well, I think Alan meant good surprises, so...

I am surprised that:
-There isn't a 10:1 force user to non-force user ratio
-that my computer runs the game awesomely
-that I would think Qyzen is the coolest companion I have met between all my toons
-that there is nothing more satisfying than one shotting enemies with the Agent sniper ability.

And because everyone else was a grump, I do have one negative:
-that the cybernetic trooper eyes from the beta would be taken out in favor of dumb eye patches and metal bars... >.>

What surprised me is how good the crafting is. I usually don't like crafting in MMO's, but I really enjoy Crew Skills. I love being able to send companions off on missions while doing other things.

The other thing I was surprised with is how much fun pvp is. I thought pvp was going to take a backseat because Bioware is so focused on the story, but it is really a lot of fun. If they can just add cross server battle-groups, and allow you to select to queue up for individual warzones it will be that much better.

PS. Why all the hate on Voidstar? I love the attack and defend set up. Maybe its because I am a trooper and can just AOE haha. I think they should make more maps that copy the Battlefield rush mode.
