Just had some thoughts about the slinger I wanted to get down.

Feel free to rip my comments apart.

Here is what I think of the skill trees.

Sharpshooter- burst damage, single shots for big damage, best for PvP
Sabotage- lots of DoTs, best for PvE
Dirty Fighting- more melee oriented, most well rounded tree

Agree or disagree?

And please feel free in a reply to bring up another gunslinger related topic.

That sounds pretty on point. The Sniper, being the mirror, is Marksman - Long range, burst DPS. Engineering - Best early on in leveling because of good talents low in the tree. More survivability, Lethality - bad idea for a Sniper in PvE because of energy issues, causes you also to be on top of targets. Stick to the first 2.
In my experience as a sniper (which again relates directly to Gunslinger) it's best to stick to Marksman (Sharpshooter?) mainly for keeping distance and bursting your target down, normally before they know what hit them. Engineering is ok early on with it's great talents, also a higher chance of survival for the long haul fights. Lethality is better used by Operatives because of the range being, normally within melee distance.
Overall you seem to be spot on.

My gunslinger is in sabotage, and works well in ops because you can sit back, throw out DoTs and AoEs and not draw too much aggro while still dealing your share of the overall DPS.

What is your rotation then, because it didn't seem like I was doing that much damage in an op. Normally I play more of a DoT/AoE type of character, but I just seem like Sharpshooter is better.

This is the part where you prove me wrong...:)

This is my usual rotation for an operation boss (which is really all I do on my gunslinger now since I'm leveling an alt).

I normally do Flourish Shot (armor reduction and slight damage), shock charge (DoT tech), Wounding shot (DoT bleed) to start off and let the tank taunt and get aggro.

Then Explosive Charge (explodes for a lot of damage when target is damaged again), and then Rapid Shot (long burst of gunfire for a lot of damage). When the first bolt of rapid shot hits, the explosive charge explodes and drops 3 contingency charges (must put in skills points to acquire) which also explode on impact and deal a decent amount of damage. Normally 2 of the 3 charges will detonate by the end of the rapid shot, so then I use the basic pistol shot a few times to allow the last charges to detonate and to rebuild some energy.

Then I use Incendiary grenade (AoE for tons of damage) and XS Freighter Flyby (AoE for a lot of damage). Usually by this point my DoTs have worn off, so I reapply those.

I can usually keep my energy regen in the 4 or 3 bar range, (total energy above 40%) so I don't really have to worry about that ( I don't know if sharpshooter or dirty fighting has to watch the energy bar).

And finally, when the targets health is below 30% I can start using that ability whose name I can't remember.

So that's my rotation, and I think it works well for operations.

Ok, I might have to try that rotation and see if it works for me. Energy is a bigger concern for Sharpshooters in my opinion because alot of the damage relies on burst and larger shots which deplete energy faster.

Thanks for the info!

It's why I started the topic!

And I hope that rotation works for you. If you have run an op with me, that is what I do, and so you can judge if you think it gives out good DPS or not (I think I'm doing good! ;) )
